Sons of God have Awakened to His Likeness

Part 5 of the Sons Of God Series

Now are We the Sons of God Part V

1) 1John 3:2

Beloved, now we are the sons of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

a. Are we now God's sons?

b. Is it possible to receive more revelation about Jesus than we already have?

c. If we can receive greater revelation regarding Jesus while we live in this present world, can we also experience a greater revelation of our being sons of God?

2) 2Corinthians 3:12 - 18

12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech- 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

a. Why couldn't the people look at Moses' face?

b. What was the glory that passed away?

c. What veil is taken away in Christ?

d. Where is liberty to be found?

e. Can we look into the face and the glory of the Lord today?

f. How are we transformed into the image of the Lord?

g. Do we now bear the image of God?

3) Psalm 17:15

As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

a. What does it mean to see God's face in righteousness?

b. Where do we find satisfaction?

c. What does it mean to awake in God's likeness?

4) Exodus 38:8

He made the laver of bronze and its base of bronze, from the bronze mirrors of the serving women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.

a. The priests in the Old Testament used to wash their hands and feet before going into the Holy Place (Middle Court). What does that mean to us today?

b. The laver was made from the bronze mirrors of the women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle. What is the significance of that for us?

5) James 1:21 - 25

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

a. What is able to transform our souls?

b. The word "doer" in Greek means poet. What did poets do in Bible times?

c. Is the perfect law of liberty a mirror? Why is that important?

6) 1John 4:15 - 16

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

a. What happens when we confess that Jesus is the Son of God?

7) 2Corinthians 5:1 - 5

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

a. What is the house of God, eternal in the heavens?

b. What does it mean that we don't want to be unclothed but further clothed that mortality would be swallowed up by life?

c. Can our mortal body be swallowed up by life while we are living on the earth?

8) Mark 9:1 - 8

And He said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power." 2 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.

4 And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah"- 6 because he did not know what to say, for they were greatly afraid. 7 And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" 8 Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves.

a. Can what happened to Jesus happen to us while we live here on the earth?
